Kesher Israel Congregation is an independent Orthodox synagogue which uses Ashkenazi nusah, as modified by our particular minhag.  We have weekday Shaharit and Ma’ariv services year-round, and weekday minha services during Daylight Savings Time.

On Shabbat, in addition to a traditional Friday-night service, we also have a very well-attended Carlebach service.  On Saturday morning, we have a hashkama service which meets at 7:30 with minimal singing, and a main service at 9 which is more participatory.  The community and our visitors are invited to seudah shlishit in the beit medrash after minha.

On the Shabbat closest to Rosh Hodesh, Alper Memorial Women's Rosh Chodesh Tfillah/Study Group holds its monthly meeting. We have a special women’s minha service in the Bayit (1308 28th St. NW, adjacent to Kesher Israel).  The Rebbetzin conducts a shiur, and one of the women of the community will give a dv’ar Torah after leining.  For more information, please email roshchodeshgroup@kesher.org, and the service coordinator will assist you.

If you are interested in leading any other part of the service, or would like an aliyah, please email gabbai@kesher.org and one of the gabbaim will respond to you.

Please note that anyone wishing to lead the Shaharit service on Shabbat is expected to arrive by Barukh She-Amar, and anyone wishing to lead the Musaf service is expected to arrive by Hazarat haSha”tz of Shaharit
